About this deal

Some of our partners may process your data as a part of their legitimate business interest without asking for consent. I A/B-ed them and the newer models comes through a lot more balanced and doesn't get boomy as quick, either. The cleans sound nice but when I put a over drive pedal or rise the drive on any amp it doesn't sound that good. If you do decide on the 112, put it up on a short speaker stand to avoid bass coupling with the floor. As far as the difference between the Alto and the HR, there is a Youtube video where someone compares the two.

The Headrush FRFR-108 Speaker Cab delivers 2000 watts of peak power that delivers clarity, punch and ample headroom for any venue. It also has two XLR inputs in which you can plug in two instruments at once, and you can control their voices individually with the individual volume controllers. I'm on the fence in terms of ditching the Headrush and getting a relatively inexpensive 112 cabinet (used) coupled with an EHX magnum power amp. Both of these would likely do a better job for "normal" monitoring duties, as they have some decent monitoring-tailored DSP settings, but apart from that, personally I even slightly prefered the Alto - and I don't need any extra monitor settings as I can do the same with the Helix' global EQ (which is only routed to my monitor out), should I ever need to. In addition to the great acoustic/electrical performance, the FRFR-108 is easy to transport, at just under 20 lbs.Using the Revv Gen Red distortion instead of the Big muff pedal I had been using so far, and the Jazz Rivet 120 for clean tones, the whole band felt that it sounded more clear, leaving more space for bass, and there is more than enough power (I had the Helix at 1 o'clock, and the headrush at a little less than half to equal the rest of instruments). All of thie functionaility is packed into a lightweight and flexible tilt-back or pole mount design. I've given them a try with my eDrums and bass at rehearsal volume and they seem to be able to handle everything fine. It's a little more expensive than the 112, and it's rated at 200 W (not 2000) but it is plenty loud with a lot of bottom end (it's a deep ported closed back cab). More expensive speakers have DSP settings to accomodate using them in a floor monitor position vs on stands.

To ensure that the music is presented with the maximum clarity and with precisely the tonal character that the guitarist/bassist intended, the FRFR-108 delivers exceptional acoustic accuracy and high SPL levels. Headrush FrFr 108 is a Specially-voiced 8-inch woofer, while the headrushFrFr 112 is a Specially-voiced 12-inch woofer. In contrast to the HeadRush FRFR 108, the HeadRush FRFR 112 is appropriate for guitarists and bassists who want to improve their performances and maximize the sound they receive from the HeadRush Pedalboard or even other FX/amp modellers. Designed for the stage, studio and rehearsal rooms, the FRFR-108 is perfect sized to be taken and set up anywhere, quickly and easily. I've read a lot about these speakers online from people who seem to be downsizing to the latest 8" powered speakers.

I change the output of the HX Stomp to line (instead of instrument) and connected the cable to the input of the Headrush speaker. But you'll need some kind of amp emulation if it's just a pedalboard you'd normally stick into an amp. Combining (2) XLR/TRS 1/4-inch combo inputs, XLR output, ground lift switch and Contour EQ switch with independent volume controls per channel input, the FRFR-112 integrates with existing equipment and opens up a world of new sonic possibilities. It features a 2-way 8” speaker, two XLR/TRS 1/4” combo inputs with autonomous amplification, switching contour EQ for improving chaotic noise mixes, and an ultra-light mountable cabinet. I had a powered speaker in the form of a DXR10 and same as other things, unless you crank it, you won't get the best from it.
