About this deal

After an incident at school that leaves Anna heartbroken, Dean, Leo's cousin and archenemy swoops in and tries to keep them apart and have Anna all to himself. The Griffins and the Gallos have been in a battle, to the death, to have the control of the mob underworld of Chicago for generations. Their legacy of violence and death has been a part of their culture for decades. There appears to be no resolution towards peace between the families.

In the Stolen Heir, we meet Nessa Griffin. Nessa is a compassionate and gentle soul. She’s rather lonely and has no role in the mafia family empire. The one glimmer of pleasure in her life is trying to prove herself in the very competitive ballet corps, and then to her family. The day to day life at the academy is interesting too, and the competitions are a lot of fun to read about. I love all the blossoming friendships, and I'm already invested in every character's story. It looks like we're only getting three more books, so I'm biting my nails wondering who's going to be left out. Within the first few chapters I had a feeling this was gonna be good, and godDAMN the book did not disappoint. To be honest I didn’t like Ryland that much. He didn’t stand out in any way to me. And I think that Riona is too good for him. Sure, he’s a sweetheart, he didn’t really do anything bad, I just … he was average. Callum has no charm, no warmth, and is all business. He has no love for his new, headstrong bride; instead he is intent on taming his bride. He has no idea he is no match for Aida. She shows him what she’s made of when she decides to poison Callum on their wedding night.

She makes me feel things I never thought I could feel. Want things I never wanted. Only she can make me lose control. I don’t know if I should protect her at all costs… or destroy her before she ruins me. Mara knows I’m no saint. But she has no idea she’s dancing with the devil…” For the rest of the book, she was okay. I never really loved her throughout the book but I didn’t hate her either Riona Griffin is gorgeous, intelligent, and iron-willed. My perfect woman, except she hates my guts. She thinks she doesn’t need anybody. But she needs me.She’s being hunted by an assassin who never misses his mark.I’m going to stay by her side, day and night, keeping her safe. Riona thinks that’s a fate worse than death but I know she’ll learn to love me.If this hitman wants to kill her, he’ll have to go through me first... more I’ll Protect Her… Whether She Likes It Or Not. I also hoped this would be slow burn but no they did it 35% in and after that they weren’t enemies anymore- not friends, no, but not enemies either and you would expect them to hate each other until the end bc he literally destroyed her brothers dream and she threw his most special possession away but no

The thing I want to put out here first and foremost and the main reason it got a low rating is because I don't think Lark's writing style is for me. There was potential here and I was ready to be ensnared by everything Miko-Nessa but oh my god I soldiered through it. I WANT to give it a higher rating, I WANT to love this book but I CAN'T. The characters weren't annoying and the plot was alright, especially towards the 80% mark, so why did I hate it? Because it was cliché as ffffffffffff! WTF was it with the Beauty and the Beast thing? And then the confession after interacting probably a maximum of 10 times with Nessa as Miko's prisoner? It was HORRIBLE! Sure there was tension between every character and the sexual tension was subpar, including the smut (-_-), but it wasn't enough to hold me over. Anyway, besides for the romance, the atmosphere of this book was pretty awesome. Such Hogwarts vibes… minus the magic and add in the mafia. Uch, so much cooler than my college. This book was so great. The characters, the plot, the suspense, the flow of the story, I loved them all. And don't even get me started on the most eye-twitch-inducing "Psychology" 101 sex trope - a woman who is considered a "ballbuster" and in full control of her professional and personal life, who is a bit of a control freak, simply MUST enjoy being dominated in bed. I mean, like always, I get that it's a legitimate thing that happens but can we (and by we, I mean myself), JUST ONCE, have a female character who likes to be in control both in boardroom and the bedroom? Like, why is it that male characters can be described as "Mr. Big D Energy exercises control in all aspects of his life" but as soon as you have a female character who exercises control in her life, she simply MUST meet a guy who will make her "let go" and free her of her inhibitions and what-not.
