About this deal

IDC Whitepaper: “Optimizing Performance with Frequent Server Replacements for Enterprises” commissioned by Dell Technologies and Intel, March 2021. Results are based on interviews with 18 IT practitioners and decision makers at midsize and large enterprises and a web survey of 707 IT practitioners and decision makers at midsize and larger enterprises using Dell Technologies server solutions across 7 industries. See full whitepaper: https://www.delltechnologies.com/resources/en-us/asset/white-papers/products/servers/server-infrastructure-resiliency-enterprise-whitepaper.pdf Despite the ventilation grille at the bottom and top of the case, the company hasn’t provided a built-in speaker system on the P3222QE. There is only a hint of the ability to install a branded soundbar using two built-in holder magnets on the bottom. Display All things considered, the P3222QE actually puts up a good performance. Its gamut is indeed limited to 99% of the sRGB space, which will leave lovers of wide-gamut panels wanting, but its color space is easy on the eyes and, qualitatively, this is a very good sRGB panel. Gamma performance is perfect out of the box nailed at 2.2 with just an 0.01 deviation, and color accuracy is tested at a Delta-E (difference from real) of 1.67. This is good enough for photo editing work, which the P3222QE is great for at its large size and high resolution. Beyond the warranty period, the P3222QE should last a minimum of five years too, if not longer. The LED lighting isn’t prone to failure, and there aren’t any other complexities that might detract from its potentially useful lifespan. Should I buy it? The appearance of Dell monitors rarely undergoes significant changes, and the P3222QE is no exception because its design is as close as possible to representatives of ultra-wide solutions from the top “U” line, which has not changed much in recent years.

The Dell P3222QE monitor in question has three main modes, two additional modes with different color temperature preset (cold and warm), as well as a Custom preset for manual correction. By default, Standard Mode is used with the following settings: The Dell P3222QE is great as an all-arounder, but it does have its limitations such as no Adaptive-Sync support and its 65-watt charging. The Dell U3219Q which is more or less the same monitor can be had for less, although it is not as available now since it’s a 2019 model. Overall, it’s a decent buy, but there are more capable monitors out there like Dell’s Collaboration monitors that include a more capable 4K variant. The results of this table are the deviations of the points of the gray wedge along the X-axis. They do not affect the vertical axis, and therefore it is possible to assess the presence of spurious shades only by the CIE diagram from the “Gamma curves and gray balance” subsection. Take advantage of the Dell Display Manager software as it does add more functionalities for productivity to the Dell P3222QE USB-C Hub. It gives you access to a lot of things, from basics like choosing screen presets and adjusting brightness and contrast to smarter features like Easy Arrange, which tells the monitor to set snap to grids for a more organized desktop, and Input Manager, which lets you name your ports and set a few hotkeys for on-the-fly input switching. We have to say, though, that Input Manager would have been more appealing if it weren’t for that whole issue with the USB hub being tied to the USB-C port.

All the Ports, All the Money

I measured the P3222QE’s brightness, contrast ratio, and color accuracy using Portrait Displays' Calman 5 color calibration software, a Klein K10-A colorimeter, and a Murideo Six-G signal generator. The next time I plugged the single USB-C cable into the laptop, all of my devices (including the Ethernet) were up and running in a couple of seconds, and the laptop started charging. It’s a simple solution to the business of taking your work with you, but also having the comforts of the home office available. All the essential controls are there, including brightness and contrast settings, various preset color modes, and a handful of device settings. For inputs, there is even an option to rename the inputs, which is nice if you wanted to, say, name the USB-C port to ‘Laptop,’ DisplayPort to Desktop, and HDMI to Console, for example. Image quality

The menu has seven sections. The first one contains the brightness and contrast settings. The second one contains settings for connection interfaces and their selection. The bright and uniform zone takes up most of the space, with the left, right, and top edge of the panel being the darkest. After using the Spyder X Elite to calibrate the display and re-evaluate its performance, we found that we squeezed out 1% more sRGB coverage and color accuracy was improved to an impressive Delta-E of just 1.01. The white point was also refined, so all things considered, there is still an improvement to be found in the P3222QE’s performance with just a simple calibration. But, the image is more than good enough for most use cases, so unless you’re doing professional editing work, we’d just leave it as is. Our takeAs a rule, there are no questions about the viewing angles of a large 4K monitor based on IPS matrices, and the hero of the review was no exception to the rule: on Dell internal analysis using publicly available specs in August 2023 comparing maximum effective capacity for PowerStore 1200 and FlashArray //X20. Assumes average 4:1 data reduction for PowerStore, 5:1 for Pure Storage. Actual results vary. All other products will be delivered via the fastest available method (excluding bank holidays and weekends) and generally within 3-5 days, depending on customer location.
